AIX EN PROVENCE EXHIBITS THE CINI COLLECTION.

Tiepolo.

The Giorgio Cini Foundation (1885-1977) is celebrating the 70th anniversary of its creation.

On this occasion, the Centre d'Art de l'Hôtel de Caumont in Aix-en-Provence offers a journey to Venice by presenting masterpieces from this collection, one of the most important of Italian ancient art.

A selection of the most important pieces of the collection, spanning the period from the fourteenth to the eighteenth century, is presented for the first-time outside Italy.

Alongside the great names of Tuscan painting - such as Fra Angelico, Filippo Lippi, Pontormo and Venetian painting such as Veronese, Lorenzo and Giandomenico Tiepolo the exhibition presents masterpieces of the Ferrara Renaissance. Enriched by a selection of sculptures, enamels and ivories, as well as a choice of drawings and illuminations, the exhibition reflects the stylistic variety of a flourishing period of Italian art and the refined taste of one of the greatest Italian collectors of the 20th century.

The exhibition also presents contemporary creations in dialogue with the works in the collection. Artists such as Ettore Spalleti and Vik Muniz have created pieces especially for the exhibition in Palazzo Cini, showing that the Cini collection is an inexhaustible source of inspiration for today's artists.
